How to lock the Vinipad app on iPad tablets (Kiosk Mode)
First, some configuration options have to be changed (this only needs to be done once for each iPad):
- Press the "Settings" icon (a grey icon with gears)
- Select the "General" section and then press "Accessibility" at the right
- Within this section, go down to the bottom and press "Guided Access"
- Touch the switch to the right of "Guided Access" so that it turns green
- Several options will appear below. Press first on “Passcode Settings"
- Press “Set Guided Access Passcode” and specify a four-digit password
- Press the back button (it says “< Guided Access") to return to the options
- Touch the switch at the right of “Accessibility Shortcut" so that it turns green
- Push the Home button (the front physical button in the iPad) to exit Settings
- Touch the Vinipad app icon to open it
- Push the Home button three times in rapid succession (the front physical button in the iPad)
- The Guided Access interface will appear. Press the "Options" button in the lower left corner
- Ensure that all options have their switch in green, especially the “Sleep/Wake Button" option
- Press Start (in the upper right corner of the screen)
- The message "Guided Access Started" will appear
Once these steps are done, the app will be locked and it will not be necessary to perform them again. From this moment on it will be possible to unlock and lock the Vinipad application as follows (with the Vinipad app already open):
- To unlock the application:
- Push the Home button three times (the front physical button in the iPad)
- Enter the four-digit password
- Press “End” (in the upper left corner). The message "Guided Access Ended” will appear
- To lock the application again simply press the Home button three times (the front physical button in the iPad) and the message "Guided Access Started" will appear directly without showing options
